Question: How do I view the clutch toggle in the Bench Lines During a game

Answer: To turn on Benchlines go to Options>Ballpark and input a 9 in the Bullpen/Bench Lines text-box (See Below). Unfortunately in other leagues that don't use clutch hitting the clutch toggle is not visible but in the Schwartz League we do use clutch hitting so the toggle is visible.

Question: About the pulling back.  Do I pull back two as soon as my team loses two. or does every team lose two and then everyone pulls back?

Answer: I'm still waiting on a response from the Webmaster to answer this question. I will let you know as soon as I do. Sorry I don't have that info immediately, but I am new to this draft site and don't have it all down just yet. I am working on it though, trying to visualize any problems that might arise. We'll just deal with them as they occur and hope that it will run smoothly.
Question: Why won't the game allow me to promote more than 15 pitchers or 25 hitters to the active roster?

Answer: These are the game limitations and the game allows for no more than 15 active pitchers or 25 active hitters at any point.

CATEGORY MAXIMUM IN THE STRAT-O-MATIC GAME:
• Teams per league 30
• Divisions 10
• Teams per division 14
• Sub-leagues 6
• Batters per team 35
• Pitchers per team 25
• Batters eligible for a game 25
• Pitchers eligible for a game 15
• Minor leaguers per team 35
• Total players on team during season 75
• Fringe players per team 12

Question: Can we make a trade player for player but one team hold onto both players until the end of the season like the majors do with players to be named later?

Answer: No, teams can not make 'Player to Be Named Later' transactions.

Question: Can you briefly explain the expansion draft process for me? Are all the players I see listed available to be selected?

Answer: When you are in the ADS Web site, you can select Draft Players which is then broken down into Hitters and Pitchers and then further broken down into Positions and type of pitcher (i.e. starter, reliever, closer).

Any player listed there with a Draft button next to their name is available to be drafted.

It must be remembered that current owners are protecting 10 players which will not appear available in the draft, and when two players from their roster are drafted they will be able to pull two players back to their roster to protect.

It will take 24 rounds to get each team in the league even with 24 players each. Once we have done that we will set up the Rookie/Free Agent draft for the 2007 season.

Question: Do you have anything typed up (or can you?) on the proper procedure for playing the games?

Answer: Steps for playing and reporting your games.

1. Download the Playball file (I emailed it to everyone but it is also available on the League Website)
2. Restore the Playball file on your local machine
3. Open the 2007 Schwartz League from the Manager Screen
4. Click on any or all of the teams and check to make sure there is a CM loaded for that team. If not you don't have the correct restore file loaded on your machine.
5. If you have established you have the correct restore file containing all the CMs loaded you can proceed to play your games.
6. You will be playing your road games only against your opponent's CM
7. Click on the Play Schedule Game Button
8. Locate your first road series and change each game from HOLD status to MANUAL
9. Click on the first game of the series and click play game.
10. Check opponent's lineup to make sure it is matched up correctly against your pitcher.
11. Set up your lineup to your liking
12. DO NOT PROMOTE OR DEMOTE ANY PLAYERS FOR YOUR OPPONENT'S TEAM UNLESS SPECIFICALLY ASKED TO DO SO BY THE OWNER OR THE COMMISSIONER.
13. You may give rest before the first game of the series only.
14. You may promote or demote any players except starting pitchers scheduled to pitch during the current block on your Computer Manager
15. Then play the game against the CM making sure that your team's manager is set to human and the CM's manager is set to Computer
16. Once the game has finished play the second and third games of the series right away so you don't lose track of playing games
17. Go to your MY Computer Icon on your Desktop and explore/browse your computer's files to locate the CDROMBB folder
18. Go to for example C:\CDROMBB\Export\
19. This will be the location of the game results files for any games you have played.
20. Copy each individual series to a new ZIP file and either post that zip file on the Yahoo Group site under the appropriate file folder or e-mail the results to me and I will do this for you.
21. It is not required to post Box Scores but it would be very much appreciated if you would zip the box scores and PAC results for each game as well. You can do this by zipping the print files located in C:\CDROMBB\Print\2007SW folder on your local machine.

If you have any questions about this please ask. Thank you.

Question: When I finish a net-play series as the home team do I have to upload a file? If so, what file and how do I do it?

Answer: EXPORT GAME RESULTS/SUBSETS (Located in the Stats menu)
First select the league that is associated with the game result files or subset files that are to be exported. Select this league using the manager screen. Then select the "Export Game Results or Subsets" function from the Statistics menu.
A dialog will appear that allows you to select which files you wish to export. This dialog will list all game result files and subset files that are associated with the selected league.

This dialog has buttons to quickly select "All" or "None" of the files. When a file is selected for exporting it will say "YES" next to it. If a file is not to be exported it will say "NO" next to it. To change the status of an individual file click on that file.

After you have selected which file should be exported insert a diskette and click on the "Export" button to copy these files to diskette. After the files have been copied they will be moved to the "Exported" directory on your hard drive.

Once you have successfully exported the files to your diskette you can zip the files that are on the diskette using a zip utility like Winzip.

Open your winzip program and create a new zip file. You will then be prompted to select the files to add to you zip. Please select the files from you A: diskette and also add your box scores from your print folder on the cdrombb game. These need to be labeled as prescribed on the League Office page of the web site.

Question: Can you move any players from eligible to non-eligible during a block?

Answer: The only players that cannot be promoted and demoted during a block are those starting pitchers who are scheduled to pitch a game during the block. All relief pitchers and all batters/fielders may be promoted/demoted as you wish. The reason for this is to give an opponent foreknowledge of your rotation when you play each other and thus can plan in advance how you will be prepared for that team. I hope this answers your question. There is further discussion about this very topic within the constitution itself, but if you need additional information or guidance regarding this issue let me know.

Question: Regarding the usage: when I go to my team stats/usage display which column are we using? Under utilization is it AB or PA?

Answer: Follow the utilization of PA (Plate Appearances). If your player has zero PA remaining he is at the limit. Unfortunately the utilization stops and zero and does not show negative numbers for overusage. If I see a player at zero then I go and view their player stats, and card to see if they are actually at their limit or if they have gone over.

Question: Should the minors be set to 40/25 method?

Answer: No, minor leaguers should be eligible to maintain consistency throughout the season. If we set that option to 40/25 then right from the start of the season HAL would promote/demote as he sees fit regardless of how we set up the lineup options for the league. With the option set to minor leaguers eligible owners must only promote 25 player, although technically they could promote more but we're limiting them to 25 until the start of block 10. At that point owners can promote expanded rosters, up to 25 hitters and 15 pitchers, and make them eligible to play in games during the final month of the season.
